Sideyard Coffee: October 1 - El Salvador πΈπ» and a familiar pop hook
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week's coffee is from El Salvador and it's roasted to a medium/dark (Full City+) level. I'm smelling caramel in the grounds and cup, and tasting both caramel and dark chocolate coming through in my pour over brews. The importer lists melon and tropical fruit in the tasting notes as well. I think I'm picking some of that up as it cools and in the aftertaste as well. Sometimes a darker roast eclipses some of the softer/fruitier notes that a coffee has to offer, but I suspect that's a tradeoff many of you are happy to make. :)Β
I asked a student of mine from El Salvador for some music recommendations this week in class and she gave me four names, along with a warning that they would be pop! I picked a track called Influencer, by Carlos Neda. Alongside some acerbic lyrics It's got a decidedly pop hook that's wildly catchy and eerily familiar. Alas, I don't listen to enough pop music to place it. Ha. Anyone recognize it?Β
Cheers,
Ryan
