Sideyard Coffee: November 6 - Sumatra 🇮🇩
Dear Sideyard Friends,
I just got back from my delivery loop through south Oak Park; what a beautiful day in the neighborhood!*Â
This week's roast is a dry processed coffee from the Gunung Tujuh area of Sumatra. I was hopeful that this one would produce a similar flavor profile as the Sumatra coffee some of us had back in August, and it absolutely does. I really love the combination of big body, earth tones, and dark (dried?) fruit flavors that have come through in these coffees. The roast level is Full City+ (approaching dark) which brings out some bittersweet flavors as well. I think it's this complexity that's turning me into a big fan of Indonesian coffees.Â
Happy to stop here for the week. I'll simply add that I hope the coffee brings you a few extra minutes of respite and joy in the coming week.
Cheers,
Ryan

*Movies and coffee don't exactly go together, but if you haven't watched A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, I highly recommend it. We could all use a little more Mr. Rodgers right now.Â
