Sideyard Coffee: November 5: Blend ๐ธ๐ป + ๐จ๐ฉ + ๐ฎ๐ฉ
Hello Sideyard Friends,
We're catching up on some green beans from three recent single origin roasts this week. It's one part Sumatra, two parts Uganda, and three parts El Salvador, and it comes through in the cup in that order. The first thing I notice in aroma and taste is the dark and earthy Sumatra. It's clearly the elephantย in the cup, even though it's the smallest piece of the blend.ย On the back end, and as it cools, the sweeter, natural processing notes of the El Salvador and Uganda come through and that's were I personally get more interested.ย It's a unique, stirred upย set of flavor notes that's fun to try and parse. I'm drinking it alongside some left over Ethiopia from a few weeks ago, and while there's plenty of differences, one of the most striking is the suppressed acidity that come through in the Sumatra. The darker the roast, the less palate acidity.
Next week we'll be back in single-origin territory with a coffee from either Guatemala or Colombia.ย ย ย
Cheers,
Ryan
