Sideyard Coffee: November 19 - Guatemala Huehuetenango 🇬🇹🍫
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week we're drinking a wet processed Guatemalan coffee from the Huehuetenango region. "Weh weh" for short. This fabled region is the highest and driest non-volcanic growing area in Guatemala and it's known for producing deeper-toned, balanced coffees. This week's cup follows that reputation to a T. Expect dark chocolate, dark berry flavors, and caramel, with heavy body.
If you have some of last week's Colombia left yet try a 1:1 blend of these two! The Colombia adds a bit of acidity and cuts back on the darker tones in a way that I'm really enjoying. Next week we'll be delivering coffee Monday or Tuesday to get ahead of travel plans and ensure that no one has coffee sitting on their porch through the long weekend!
Kixampe is this week's origin track and it's a collaboration between Primobeatz (beat maker from Peru) and Rebecca Lane (Hip Hop musician from Guatemala), along with Sara Curruchich (Indigenous contemporary folk musician from Guatemala). Lane and Curruchich are active in advancing indigenous and women's rights through their music and through other forms of political activism in and beyond Guatemala.
Cheers,
Ryan
