Sideyard Coffee: November 11 - Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Analynn Garro 🍒🍯
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week's roast is a washed coffee from Analynn Garro's farm in Costa Rica. Garro started farming coffee in the 1990s and after a couple decades of selling her crop to large processing facilities, she set up her own processing mill. Having an on site mill gives farmers like Garro more control over the final product as well as a larger share of profits. Additionally, her Mata Acuña Mill recycles all the water they use during processing, which helps them avoid contaminating local water systems.
The cup is heavy bodied, with medium roast tones and a bit of fruited sweetness to start. As it cools, a floral aroma emerges (get your nose in there!) along with flavors of cherry, honey and plum.
This week's origin track recommendation is another somewhat obscure one–YouTube only, alas. Los Abejorros (The Bumblebees) was a band comprised of only kids in the 1980's that went from playing neighborhood festivals to the national stage overnight after they were invited to share a stage with La Banda, one of the biggest pop groups at the time. Be warned that it's a bit of an ear worm and a slightly off-kilter one at that! Como un señor by Los Abejorros. This track's opening bars are eerily similar (in my head at least) to the lead track on my favorite film soundtrack: A Man and a Woman by Francis Lai.
Cheers,
Ryan
p.s. It was a late/dark delivery kinda day, and our count is one off, so please kindly let us know if you got the wrong bag size? Thank you!
