Sideyard Coffee: June 3 - Guatemala 🇬🇹 Huehue + coffee 📰
Hello Sideyard Friends,
How about some good news? A newly published study found that coffee may decrease mortality! The researches aren't sure if it's the antioxidants, or if the coffee drinking correlates with other healthier choices, but whatever the case, I'll take it.Â
This week's life-giving coffee is from the famed Huehuetenango department of Guatemala. The region is known for producing truly excellent washed coffees. It's neither wild nor esoteric–just a solid cup of coffee with great body and medium acidity. The first flavor notes that come to mind are milk chocolate and cane sugar, followed by pear and a touch of dried fruit.
The origin track recommendation for the week is Nadie Sabe by Guatemala-born Mabe Fratti. I've shared this one before, but I like it every time I hear it, so here it is again! Moving from cello to meandering vocals to synth, it's a gentle track for a gentle coffee.Â
Cheers,
Ryan
