Sideyard Coffee: July 2 - El Salvador ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ป + ๐ŸŽ‰

Hello Sideyard Friends,

Sideyard Coffee turns one year old this week! Whether you grab the occasional spare bag, are just starting up a subscription, or you've been here all along, thank you! We're looking forward to the next year of roasts and delivery rides!ย

This week also marks the launch of our new roasting machine! It's a beautifully utilitarian looking thing (IMHO) with buttons and dials and switches (oh my). I'm learning how to use it alongside my friend and new partner in all things coffee, Michael Green. If you see a mint green cargo bike cruising through south Oak Park with some milk crates full of coffee in the backโ€“that's him!ย

The very first roast on the new machine is from a farm and coffee mill located on the Ilamatepec volcano in El Salvador. Itโ€™s owned by a 4th generation (!) coffee producer named Ricardo Kriete. It's tasting much as one might expect from a classic Central American coffee profileโ€“nutty, dark chocolate, and a touch of caramel. We pushed it a little darker than the average Sideyard roast and, as such, it should be a crowd pleaser. Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for a roastery open house later this summer!ย

Cheers,

Ryan
