Sideyard Coffee: July 16 - Colombia 🇨🇴 Excelso 🍫
Hi Sideyard Friends,
This week we're drinking coffee from Colombia. As a sweet tasting medium roast with notes that include milk chocolate, apple acidity, and some lemon/lime, it's right in line with Colombia's reputation for producing well-balanced, easy-drinking coffees. It was produced by the Juan Tama Indigenous Councils Association, which encompasses 600 coffee producing families in Western Colombia. The association was formed in 2008 and it aims to increase biodiverse food production, as well as food autonomy and income for member families. They produce 10,000 to 13,000 bags of Excelso coffee (a.k.a. nice/large-ish beans) annually and we're drinking roughly one-half of one of those bags. :)
The origin track of the week is Nariz Con Raíz by Colombian singer-songwriter Briela Ojeda.
Cheers,
Ryan
