Sideyard Coffee: January 6 - DR Congo 🇨🇩 🦍
Hello Sideyard Friends,
Happy 2023. This week's coffee is from the Democratic Republic of Congo. It's produced by a cooperative of farms that sit along the border of the Virunga National Park (the last remaining home of the Mountain Gorilla). After a few decades of civil wars, the Congo has not recently seen a lot of peace or prosperity recently. Due to renewed internal and external investment, coffee growing is thankfully one area that is offering hope.
The cup is moderately bright with heavy body and a tannic feel. Tasting notes include tart currant, fig, and brown sugar.
This week's origin track is Verckys & L'Orchestre Veve's funky/upbeat track Talali Talala.
Cheers,
Ryan
