Sideyard Coffee: December 2 - Guatemala 🇬🇹 La Morena 🦕
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week's coffee is part of an initiative called La Morena that was set up specifically to support female coffee growers in Guatemala. It started in 2016 with just a small handful of growers and a few thousand pounds of coffee. Today the program is supporting hundreds of growers and exports four containers full of coffee annually, or roughly 165,000 pounds. Good coffee/good cause.Â
In the cup I'm tasting bittersweet chocolate, roasted almond, and a splash of cherry. The fruit is especially evident in the aroma. Call it a full city roast (darker side of medium) with nice round body, and medium palate acidity.
The origin track for the week is Guatemala-based Dinosaur 88's track 305092 Years. Based on the feel of the album and the track names, I feel like we're in concept album territory, where the concept is "video game about the ghosts of earth's dinosaurs living on a distant planet." Fun, but maybe not for everyone?!Â
Next Saturday, Sideyard will be participating in the holiday craft fair at Irving Elementary. Stop by for some beans and a cup of brewed coffee! Saturday, December 10 from 9am-12pm.Â
Cheers,
Ryan
