Sideyard Coffee: April 9 - Ethiopia Bekele Heto micro lot 🍒🍋*
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week's coffee is a single farm micro lot from the Halo Bariti washing station in southern Ethiopia. The importer describes the citrus flavors coming through as "limeade". On the one hand, that's a wildly specific descriptor! On the other hand, it makes perfect sense as soon as you taste it. There's a subtler cherry flavor on the front end and a cocoa note on the backend that comes through as well. It has pleasant acidity and a long aftertaste. I'm tempted to order more of this one.
To go with this impossibly smooth cup of coffee, here's an impossibly cool track from Ethio-Jazz progenitor Mulatu Estatke: https://songwhip.com/mulatu-astatke/yekermo-sew.
Cheers,
Ryan
p.s. I have three spare bags from this roast (two 12oz and one 8oz). Let me know if you or someone you know might want one before I offer them up on Instagram.
*Either a lemon or a lime would have worked here in the subject line, but seeing as there isn't a lime emoji, I settled for the lemon.
