Rwanda 🇷🇼 Nyamiyago Dry Process
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week’s coffee comes to us from a washing station in Nyamiyago town, Rwanda that serves nearly 3,000 local farmers in the surrounding villages. They do excellent sorting and processing work, which made this coffee a dream to roast, compared to many dry process coffees. The processing quality also helps with the uniformity of roast development (similar shades of beans!) and a more consistent brew!
The cup starts on the wilder side with cooked blackberry and blueberry flavors (reminiscent of pie filing), followed by winey grape, and all supported by a dark and lingering cocoa note.
This week’s origin track is Ikirezi by Bizimungu Dieudonne. Not a lot of info is available about this one, but thanks to a random YouTuber, we have a YouTube video of a recording from a cassette tape released in Rwanda in 1988.
Cheers,
Ryan
