D.R. Congo 🇨🇩 Coopade Cooperative
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week’s coffee is from an area in the DR Congo that borders the Virunga National Park. It was processed by the Coopade Cooperative which is made up of 4,500 small holder farmers (averaging less than an acre in size) and 16 separate mini washing stations. One third of the producers in the co-op are women and one third of the washing stations are women owned. This specific lot has a great brightness to it with notes of stone fruit, currant, clove, and molasses.
The origin track for the week is Pieteron by Fulu Miziki. Fulu Miziki is an artist collective that’s made a genre out of using found objects to make sound. From their bio: “Fulu Miziki is a collective of artists who comes straight from a future where humans have reconciled with mother earth and with themselves. This multidisciplinary collective of artists is based in the heart of the Congolese capital city Kinshasa.”
We have a handful of extras 12oz bags on hand.
Cheers,
Ryan
