Colombia 🇨🇴 Huila Excelso 🍫🍒
Hello Sideyard Friends,
This week’s coffee is from the Huila region of Colombia. The Excelso designation is Colobmia’s coffee industry parlance for the second largest screen size of coffee beans. Due to how growing conditions can impact bean sizes, growing, bigger beans can sometimes correlate with quality, but not always (last week’s small-but-delicious peaberry would like to have a word). The bigger issue with bean size is that smaller beans roast quicker than larger beans, which makes careful screening by size one of the keys to consistent roasts.
I’m tasting chocolate, caramel, and cherry in the cup. It’s decently bright but has a good heft to it as well—a coffee I would not be upset to drink everyday for more than just the next week.
The origin track recommendation for the week is a 1970s Colombia pop track—Cuando Voy por la Calle by Trio America.
We have a handful of extras in stock.
Cheers,
Ryan
