The tools of the table
Breaking down my GM toolkit, a peek at my next adventure, and hype for Blades '68
I think a lot about tools and what we use at the table. I have a routine when I set up to run a game at my home table and one to get setup to run online. I write my prep notes in Obsidian, prep my map on Owlbear Rodeo or printing it out for my table, and gather my dice.
I do my best to not add extra tools to my kit when what I have can already do the job, unless they actually speed up my process or make a significantly better experience for my players. Most of the fun happens between me and my players so my tools have to support that experience do their job and get out of the way.
I introduced handwritten index card magic items to my physical game because I like to hand them out, my players like them, and its a no-fuss way to convey information. I wrote my own simple token generator because I need making VTT tokens to be fast, not fancy.
Inspired by some videos by other GMs as well as software developer /uses pages, I decided this week to log my entire GMing toolkit. Take a read and see what I use that you don't. Or maybe what you find essential and I am missing!
Chaos is brewing...
I'm coming out with a new adventure next week! Here's a peek at the cover:

One way you could help out is following my DriveThruRPG publisher page, grabbing my already released free adventures, and leaving a rating or review on those.
Then when it comes out next week I could use all the support and shares!

Blades '68 is crowdfunding on Backer Kit right now and it looks fantastic. I love Blades in the Dark, it's one of my favorite games, and had to pick up this retro-future supplement. I will let the art and design of this speak for itself, but just wow.
