It's November soon! How!

How is it almost November??

A thing I’ve been struggling with lately is slowing down enough to be present, soak it all in, and appreciate the incredible things that our nerdy community here in Somerville has been doing.

You know: end-of-year gratitude reflection stuff.

But I’m BAD at it, okay?! I didn’t get here by slowing down! I didn’t get here by taking a quiet moment! I got here through sleep deprivation, workaholism, and sheer force of will, right?!

Nope. I got here because of you, so I’m doing my damnedest to be mindful of that, and not let all the amazing upcoming events we have just pass me by in a blur of hostessing stress. We have fun ahead of us, and by gum I’m going to be part of that fun alongside you!

So! First fun thing!

Moon Over Bow, Bow Market’s witchiest night of the year, is returning on Thursday, October 30 from 4-9pm. It’s one of our busiest night markets, and it’s been a blast organizing it this year! We’ve got mystical and magical vendors coming to the courtyard, and Upstairs at Bow will be transforming into a vibey “witch lounge,” complete with a “readers’ row” where you can get your cards or birth chart read for you. It’s a free RSVP, but do sign up so we know how many folks to expect…!

Then we’ve got our biggest author event ever: Alix E. Harrow’s book launch tour stop for The Everlasting at Arts at the Armory at 7pm on November 5! There are a ton of lady-knight books coming out this fall, and while virtually all of them are fantastic, The Everlasting is really something something. I sent a whole other newsletter fangirling about this event, but believe me when I say: the hype has only gotten… hypier. I’m currently re-reading one of Alix’s other masterpieces, The Once and Future Witches, ahead of our October 28 book club for it and wow does her prose just pluck every one of my heartstrings. Ticket sales are really starting to pick up for this one, so don’t wait to grab yours…!

And then… IT’S REN FAIRE! Saturday, November 8: lace up your corset, grab your stein, and head down to Bow for Somerville’s first urban Renaissance Faire. The theme is “enchanted forest,” and we’re going to have everything from a huge daytime goblin market to some armored combat demonstrations to a fantasy ball in the evening! I… am truly so excited for this. I think it’s going to be a madhouse? In the best way possible? So come be part of the mayhem! (This one’s also a free RSVP. You know the drill.)

That’s all the big stuff coming up, but there’s also the day-to-day joy of our smaller shop events. We got our November calendar live a few days ago, and tickets for everything are linked in our LinkTr.ee, so take a look and see what strikes your fancy!

Thank you thank you thank you for being on this adventure with us — can’t wait to party (mindfully!) with you soon!

Yours in sweater weather,
Caroline
