Sunflowers, art markets, and a new workshop
Hello friends and collectors,
I'm ramping up for a busy holiday season with 14 paintings currently showing in exhibitions, some new beginner-friendly watercolor workshops open for registration, and 2 big art markets: Festifall in Chapel Hill on Nov 7 and the Durham Art Walk on Nov 21-22. Swing by and say hi!
Tiny Observations October reveal
This month, subscribers will get a happy bouquet of sunflowers with this 5x7 art print of "Sunflowers in Vase II" and a tiny linoprint of the same:

This month is a tribute to my mentor JJ Jiang, a master watercolorist in Cary - I'll tell you more in the club letter.
The prints plus a letter with a prompt to pause and observe the world around you is all for $10 per month and ships worldwide ($1-2). You can pause or cancel anytime.
The prints also make great small gifts to friends and loved ones - framed or unframed - as we approach this holiday season.
If you'd like a bit of joy in your mailbox 📬 each month, subscribe now! The October club cut off is Sat the 31st so don't delay!
Upcoming Art Markets
I'm excited for the holiday market season. I'll have original watercolor paintings from both the studio and plein air & urban sketching. In my booth you'll also find linoprints, postcards, greeting cards, giclée prints, and my Tiny Art Department mystery art vending machine.
- Festifall in Chapel Hill on Nov 7 - booth location TBD
- Durham Art Walk on Nov 21-22 - my booth will be indoors at the Durham Arts Council on the second floor in the gallery

Fall/Winter Classes
I have a new laid-back, single-session workshop where we will make four small loose watercolor botanical paintings:

You have 2 options for location - a swanky hotel where you can also order food and drink or the beloved Scrap Exchange thrift store here in Durham (note that there's a price difference as well due to the venues). Here is that class plus a weird Halloween art one next week that still has spots open:
- Friday Night Makes: Weird Halloween Art
📅 Fri, October 30, 6:30–8:30 PM at Durham Arts Council (register on DAC website) - Watercolor Winter Botanicals
📅 Thu, November 5, 6:00–8:00 PM at the JB Duke Hotel (register) - Watercolor Winter Botanicals
📅 Sat, November 14, 11:00AM–2:00 PM at the Scrap Exchange (register)
Durham Arts Council gave me the tentative schedule for the winter session - mark your calendars for Dec 4 at 10am if you want to sign up for any of these:
- Intermediate Watercolor Studio: Guided Practice, Mondays 6:30-8:30 PM, Jan 4 - Mar 1 (no class Jan 18)
- (Beginner) Loose Watercolor, Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 PM, Jan 7 - Feb 11
- Watercolor Winter Botanicals, Friday 6-9 PM, Jan 29
