Show Up Toronto - November 5, 2026
Hi friends and neighbours,
Happy student strike day! The Canadian Federation of Students Ontario have an updated list of striking universities and their locations on Instagram, and if you happen to be near one of them drop by and cheer on the students. The global political outcomes of the past few week have been ample proof of what strides can be made when people (especially students) organize.
I know many of us have been paying attention to the midterm election results south of the border, so here's a few other local stories I've been really heartened by this week: a new union of delivery drivers launched on Monday, Unifor went public with their campaign to organize Amazon warehouses across the GTA yesterday, and the Canadian Labour Council passing a resolution calling on workers to refuse to handle weapons and military equipment headed to Israel, colloquially known as hot cargo. Change may not always come on a schedule we like, but it will come. We just have to put in the work.
Thanks for showing up. Jenny
