Show Up Toronto - November 18, 2025
Hi friends and neighbours,
The Palestinian Flag Raising ceremony at Toronto City Hall went forward yesterday despite legal challenge from a Zionist group. This is the first time that the Palestinian flag has flown at City Hall, and marks the 37th anniversary of the Palestinian Declaration of Independence. It also follows Mayor Olivia Chow acknowledging the genocide in Gaza as, you know, a genocide, and having to defend herself against immediate fury and backlash. I'll give her an iota of credit for not backing down on this one.
That said, symbolic gestures and acknowledgments are nice, but we're still sending Canadian F-35 parts and explosives to arm Israel via the US loophole. Read Arms Embargo Now's latest report from today, and join the briefing call tomorrow to learn how to get involved.
Also, don't miss the National Housing Day Rally on November 22nd. I'm not going to lie, it's looking likely that Bill 60 will be pushed through the legislature tomorrow. That doesn't mean the organizing and pushback stops - if anything, it means we need to step up our game to build a strong tenant community capable of throwing the Conservative Party out of Queen's Park.
Thanks for showing up.
Jenny
