"I Piss Up Your Throat and Out Your Mouth" and "Otro tipo de tempestad"

A story and a song

a mishmash of the covers of the new Scandal Jackson single and the new issue of Mouthfeel Fiction

feeling less-than-jazzed about doing self-promo just now but here goes

“I Piss Up Your Throat,” etc.

In case you’ve not heard me bang on about this in other forums, a week (or two?) ago saw the publication of the first issue of Mouthfeel Fiction, and with it my flash piece “I Piss Up Your Throat and Out Your Mouth”, as well as work from dozens of talented writers some of whom you may already know and love and should definitely check out.

It really is a beautiful thing they’ve put together. I am so glad I chose to italicize the word 'loathe' twice, because oh my god look at the swashes on those word-final italic e's, fucking LOOK AT THEM.

A line of text reading "Oh, how I loathe you! I loathe you!" with the word loathe in very sexy looking italics

My chief inspirations for the story were a) a joke title tossed off by a buddy in a Discord server, and b) the great Tony Shalhoub’s performance assaying the role of Luigi in the Pixar film Cars (2006). For whatever reason it was originally written channeling this voice, and when I subsequently tried to take out all the janky Italian English eye-dialect, it just didn’t work and I ended up having to put it all back in. The story would not a-have it any other-a way!

Have I mentioned that I managed to use 18 exclamation points in the span of 625-word story? So imagine every 35th word has an exclamation point after it, if that doesnt sell you on it I dont know what will.

This is undoubtedly the goofiest, shitpostiest thing I’ve ever had published (and I’ve had some fairly sillly stuff published out there) and I’m glad it found a home in the warm, moist folds of this new publication.

(I’d hoped that this self-promo post would balloon to be even longer than the story it was promoting, but that doesn’t seem to be in the case, let’s move on…)

“Otro tipo de tempestad”

Around that same time, my band released our latest song, a little ditty called “Otro tipo de tempestad”. Apart from the drumming, the cover art also was slapped together by yours truly.

Unfortunately for some stupid reason, Substack is sucking really hard and not letting me embed anything into this post so here’s an image which if you click on it will (hopefully?) take you to our linktree page. Enjoy! [threatening]
