Sewing Circle: 5/1 and 5/3 Protests, Post Office Teach-In, One Small Step

The protests over the last month are generating a lot of energy and attention - and I think they’re starting to unnerve the regime as well. So I’m happy to say that even more are on their way!

May Day Protests - Thursday 5/1, with additional shifts Saturday 5/3

Organized by 50501 and May Day Strong, these rallies are a continuation of the Hands Off and No Kings rallies. Lists and maps of protests are available here at May Day Strong and here at 50501.

In Waltham, this is a two-shift rally:
Shift 1: Thursday 5/1, from 5:30-6:30, Waltham Common at Moody/Main.
Shift 2: Saturday 5/3, from 11-12:30, same location.

I’m also seeing links for rallies in Boston, Medford, Brookline, Framingham, Burlington (on Saturday), and beyond. There’s nearly 30 scheduled in Massachusetts alone.

Post Office Teach-In, 5/3 at 2pm EDT

The Trump regime has targeted the Post Office as part of its pursuit of “efficiency,” threatening mail-in voting, timely deliveries, and vital services for millions of Americans. Julie Levy and Carol Lubkowski are hosting an online Teach-In to learn more about what the regime is attempting and how you can stop them. More details and a link for attending the virtual event are available here.

Starting conversations Across Divides with One Small Step

One Small Step, a division of StoryCorps, is working to “bring people with different views together to record a conversation — not to debate politics — but simply to get to know each other as people.”

In the same way that not all of us are cut out for protesting or GOTV work, not all of us are suited for this kind of cross-divide project. But it could be a very useful tool for increasing understanding and building bridges along common interests (for example, tariffs or national parks). Take a look and sign up if you are interested.

Every time someone sees a rally and realizes how deeply other people hold these beliefs is a chance for change and hope. Take care of yourselves, take the actions that suit you best, and remember: You are Not Alone.
