Help needed to develop and deliver SELCE's new carbon-busting initiative:
Questionnaire-fillers needed:
Can you spare 10 minutes to help us combat climate change and make local homes more energy efficient?
This summer we're aiming to launch a new project to make Lewisham's homes warmer and greener. In partnership with Parity Projects, we want to make it easier for homeowners to reduce their carbon footprint, improve the value of their property and make their homes more climate resilient.
Every questionnaire completed will give us a greater understanding of how we can shape our carbon-busting initiative to best support local households. The project will also provide a sustainable source of income for our ongoing work to eradicate fuel poverty in the borough.
You can complete the questionnaire here; the deadline is Friday the 10th of May.
Buying your own home?
We'd love to talk to anyone who has recently bought, or is currently buying, a property. If you have 20 minutes to spare between now and May 15th for a telephone discussion, please get in touch with Eliza: eliza@selce.org.uk.
Volunteer champions needed:
Can you spare a few hours a week this summer to combat climate change and make Lewisham's homes more energy efficient?
We're looking for a group of volunteers to help promote the pilot for our new carbon-busting initiative to make homes in Lewisham greener, warmer and more resilient for the future. The role also offers great opportunities to gain useful knowledge and learn new skills.
The project will begin on the week of the 20th May and lasts 11 weeks. This will involve chatting with friends and neighbours on your street. To apply, please email eliza@selce.org.uk.
Full details of the role can be found here.
More information: We're looking for ten Sustainable Futures Champions. The role would suit anyone who has two or three hours a week to spare and is passionate about the environment. Volunteers will attend a minimum of three, two-hour training sessions to become a Champion. After the three initial sessions, they will be qualified to begin work on the pilot, promoting our new services from June 10th. The subsequent four weeks will offer volunteer support sessions with continued supplementary learning if they wish to carry on developing skills.
Following the three initial training sessions, volunteers will be given the opportunity to support us in promoting and rolling out the pilot programme by advising friends and neighbours on how to sign up to the scheme.
Champions who can commit three hours per week will receive a 75% discount on the project offer - enabling them to transform their home into a low-carbon dream. They will also gain certification as Carbon Literate (see the Carbon Literacy Project) and as a Sustainable Futures Advisor for SELCE. Travel costs will be also reimbursed.
Come along and to be part of the Community Energy revolution. Be part of something that can make a real difference to people’s lives
