Like Moths to a Flame...
Moths to a Flame is an art installation engaging thousands of people inspired by our energy systems, relationship with nature, and the climate emergency.
The project will culminate in display at Glasgow’s glorious botanic gardens during COP26. Using the moth as a metaphor for our relationship with energy, we invite you to contribute to the display and send a message to World Leaders at COP26.
The Moths to a Flame roadshow is coming to Southeast London (brought to you by South East London Community Energy, The Purple Ladies and the Art and Energy Collective. We have been invited (along with 11 other groups) by Art and Energy to create a piece of work to send up to Glasgow.
The plan
12.00 – 4.30pm: *Join us at our stall on Griffin Square (outside Deptford Lounge): You will have an opportunity to send a message for world leaders. *
- Make a small moth puppet
- Write written message to world leaders to decorate our huge moth puppet (lovingly made by the Purple Ladies).
- Record a short voice message
5.00pm: Join the Moth Puppet on a procession through Deptford to the Thames
The procession will be filmed and, together with the giant moth and moth messages, sent up to Glasgow for the world leaders. Short voice messages may be included in the soundtrack of this film. Join us and the thousands of others who are participating in the Moths to a Flame initiative in building a huge new artwork for this global event
Please share. As Kurt Vonnegut said “There is no good reason good can't triumph over evil, if only angels will get organized along the lines of the mafia.” Both of these events are a way to bring us together and get organised.
