Our team is growing and our AGM is fast approaching!

2023 has been a busy year for the Selce team, with more to come. We're launching a new project with Repowering London and hiring new team members, while continuing to develop and refine our energy advice service, deliver our pilot Heat Doctor programme and retrofit community buildings with LEDs and solar arrays. 

We are excited to share everything we've done so far with you at our AGM on September 21st, 2023 (6:30-10pm) at the Star of Greenwich - booking information is below.

We are excited to be collaborating with Repowering London, a fellow London-based community energy organisation to deliver a new and innovative programme of community-led domestic retrofit that will insulate homes, alleviate fuel poverty and play a leading role in responding to the climate emergency. We will implement a community-led approach to address one of the great engineering challenges of our time – improving the energy efficiency of the UK’s housing stock.

To meet this task we are hiring! We are looking for excellent people to join us as: ✔ Project Lead ✔ Retrofit Coordinators ✔ Retrofit Assessors ✔ Outreach Officers ✔ Research Coordinator

Our LED-ing the Way! team have been busy over the past 6-months. 

We've installed new lighting systems at Greenwich West Community and Arts Centre, Forest Hill Library and Sydenham Library. Across these three sites, we replaced 300 bulbs, resulting in £9,692 annual savings and over 5 tonnes of CO2e emissions avoided.

And, we've secured funding to carry out feasibility studies at four sites in Southwark and pre-feasibility studies at 10 sites across Greenwich and Lewisham.

This past year our energy advice team have launched the Heat Doctor Service to help homeowners optimise their heating systems free of charge. Simon, is now taking bookings across Lewisham, Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley. 

And, with the Household Support Fund Lewisham we supported a total of 540 households:

• 377 received at least one element from the Warm pack (gilets, sleeping bags, microwavable toys)

• 45 received a visit from our Heating doctor

• 296 received a £50 voucher for their prepayment meter, in addition to vouchers from the Fuel Bank Foundation

• 181 households received either a £200 or £100 credit on their energy bills
