Hi
It’s been a busy month at Selce - all of our latest updates and news below…
If you know a friend or relative who might be interested in our work, or benefit from our energy support services, please do share with them - thank you.
Giovanna.
Selce to Support Lewisham Council’s Housing Retrofit Programme
We are delighted to be involved in Lewisham Council’s Housing Retrofit Programme, which is part-funded through the Department of Energy’s Warm Homes Fund, to support energy efficiency improvements across its housing stock. This three-year programme (2025-2028) of works will deliver more than £16M of improvements to Lewisham Council’s properties - Find out more here.

4th Solar Share Offer Hits Target
Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our £33,000 target to fund solar on Invicta Primary School in Blackheath!
This array is projected to reduce the school’s costs by more than £100,000 over 20 years - and emissions by 5802kg of CO2 each year.
This now becomes Selce’s 12th community financed solar site. Thanks again to all of our members who took part – by investing together, there’s so much we can do for people and planet. We are stronger together.
Selce's Formula for Successful Retrofit
In mid-October, the news was full of stories about poor quality retrofit work installed under the ECO4 or GBIS schemes.
In this article by our CEO Giovanna Speciale, we explain how these schemes work, why and when they don’t. And most of all, to give reassurance to anyone thinking about accessing funding to insulate their home - how we minimise the risk of poor installation, and maximise the number of people that can benefit.
Six Low Cost Measures to Save on Energy at Home
With energy prices showing little sign of going down right now, here are six low cost energy saving measures that you can install in the home to lower energy bills, and help you live in comfort.

Selce Secures Funding for Solar Scale Up
Selce has successfully secured funding from the Ofgem Energy Redress Scheme for community solar:
Our project will deliver technical feasibility development work for 5 community-owned renewable energy sites, progressing them from stage 2 to 4; ready for community share offer and installation.
Finalists in Community Energy Awards 2025
Selce is a finalist in the Community Energy Awards 2025, nominated in the Fuel Poverty Action and Community Energy Excellence (Large) categories.
The winners will be announced on Monday 17 November, at Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield. Best of luck to all of the brilliant co-ops shortlisted.

Growing the Alternatives at the Albany - 1 Minute Highlights
Thanks to everyone who led workshops, stalls, came along or took part in any way at Growing the Alternatives at the Albany in September.
Taking place on the same weekend as the far right demonstrations, we couldn't have put it better than London’s Deputy Mayor for Communities & Social Justice Debbie Weekes-Bernard, kicking off the event:
"You are part of us standing up against hatred and those who would seek to divide us."
Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund & the Mayor of London who supported this event, as part of the Mayor’s Community Weekend 2025.
