Hi
Just a month on from completing our last share offer, the lighting upgrade work at Marvels Lane is already almost complete!

Thanks to our investor members, the school is now saving £6,725 and more than 7,000kg in CO2 emissions per year - all with an incredibly quick turnaround. Rapid community energy impact in action!
Hot on the heels of this, we are announcing details of our next share offer - to fund and install a heat pump, powering the 24/7 hydrotherapy pool facility at Charlton Park Academy, a special educational needs school.

If successful, this will be Selce’s 24th community financed installation – after 11 for LEDs, and 12 for solar, we are revisiting one of the solar sites from our first ever share offer to add an air source heat pump.
It will reduce emissions by the equivalent of 33 households’ electricity usage per year. Over 20 years of operation, the 58kW unit will save 313.4 tonnes in CO2e emissions - register your interest and find out more here.

Advice on Tradespeople Going Door-to-Door in SE London
We’ve heard a few reports lately of tradespeople going door-to-door in areas of South East London, trying to pressure people into buying loft insulation.
This is a pattern of behaviour widely reported in the past around everything from double glazing and solar panels, but the top thing to remember is that reputable contractors and installers, like the ones Selce partners with, do not approach people on the doorstep to sell their services. Read our advice here.

Making EPC Standards Work for Older Private Renters
Last month Independent Age released important new research on older renters, and how the government’s Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) might improve some of the challenges they face.
Gustavo from our team contributed to the report – in our short summary you can find some useful charts reflecting older renters’ views on retrofit, and how improving home efficiency might impact them.
MEES means that private landlords in England and Wales will need to ensure their properties meet an EPC C by 1 October 2030 for all tenancies, unless they have an exemption. Find out more.
