Our 7th community share offer is now live!

The aim is to fund a 60kW heat pump, powering a vital service – the 24/7 hydrotherapy pool at special education needs school Charlton Park Academy in Greenwich.

Amazingly, this will be our 24th overall community financed installation – after 11 for LEDs, and 12 for solar – but our first to cover renewable heating.

Charlton Park was one of the solar sites from our first ever share offer, so it feels especially nice to be returning to add further to this project – heating that will be powered by solar!

If we are successful, the heat pump will reduce emissions by the equivalent of 33 households’ electricity usage per year.

Over 20 years of operation, it is projected to save 313.4 tonnes in CO2e emissions, and more than £150,000 for the school.

Long-term Solutions to Avoid Overheating at Home

As we experience increasingly hot summers, it is becoming more important to consider how we keep cool as well as warm. Loft conversions and extensions designed to be energy efficient may also be prone to overheating in the summer because they gain heat faster than they lose it.

Understanding the cause helps prevent the problem.

On 7 June, more than 150 people joined us for the Bell House Festival of Retrofit in partnership with Blue Patch.

We hosted local retrofit experts, stalls and one-to-one sessions with retrofit assessors, helping visitors cut through the jargon and get practical, hands-on advice about making their homes warmer, cheaper to run and more climate-friendly.
