See Moir Music: November is chilly
It's been a long... November 2021?
That was a Counting Crows joke. I’m traveling in places with real weather for the Thanksgiving holiday and it’s surreal and nice. As a result, I’m not going to any Thanksgiving weekend shows but there are a lot that sound good.
Where I’ll Be
I went to all the shows I said I was going to go to last month, which felt like an accomplishment, lemme tell ya. Black Coffee was great, Nina Sol is a great new local DJ discovery, Andhim and Rodriguez Jr. were both excellent and Booka Shade was enjoyable.
Sat 12/4 — Folamour at Audio
Endlich, seeing this French producer live. Hyped up in the early pre-pandemic days, his show was cancelled. Now he's back and we're ready for it.
Thu 12/9 — DJ Seinfeld at The Independent
His new album was pretty great. This will be a live show, so encouraged by that given that his DJ set before Jon Hopkins in 2019 was somewhat lackluster.
This new pace feels much more sustainable. I am not ready to go back to 2019 levels of show frequency and probably tbh never will. That was a whirlwind.
A bunch of shows you might want to go to
This weekend:
Fri 11/26 — Ilan Bluestone at Public Works
Fri 11/26 — Vintage Culture at 1015 Folsom
He did a few excellent sets on livestreams I saw, I was surprised.
Fri 11/26 — Bonobo DJ set at The Midway
Classic. Probably will have some new great tunes given that he put out a new album.
Sat 11/27 — Max Cooper (Live A/V) at Public Works
Always love Max Cooper.
Sat 11/27 — Kölsch on the patio at the Midway
Kölsch is a classic good time.
Sat 11/27 — Moon Boots at The Midway
Disco fun party.
December shows
Fri 12/10 — Me First And The Gimme Gimmes at the UC Theatre
Sat 12/11 — Nina Sol, DJ Cira, and other local DJs playing house and soul music at Monarch
This promises to be a really enjoyable night with excellent local DJs. I'll be away this weekend otherwise I'd definitely stop by this set.
Mon 12/13 — Roosevelt at Public Works
Thu 12/16 — Cassian, HANA, and others at 1015 Folsom
Anjunadeep residency. Cassian is excellent but also I have 8am meetings on Friday mornings so uh. nothx.
Wed 12/29 & Thu 12/30 & Sat 1/1 — Tycho ISO50 at The Independent
NYE etc shows
I'm still tired thinking about how I spent 2019 → 2020. I'll be keeping it chill and probably at home this year.

Fri 12/31 — Duke Dumont (Live) at The Warfield

Newly-ish announced for next year
Fri 1/14/22 – Will Clarke at 1015
He has a few excellent tracks I like. Not enough to make it to the show but still I'm tempted.
Sat 3/5/22 – Jeremy Olander and Simon Doty at the SF Mint
Sun 3/27/22 – Yuksek and Starfari at The Midway
Yuksek is fantastic, but I'll be in Chicago at The Format.
Sat 2/5/22 – Worakls at Audio
Thu 5/12/22 — Bob Moses with TSHA at The Warfield
I really really want to see TSHA since I missed her at Audio, but this is not the place.

Fri 9/16/22 – Swedish House Mafia at Chase Center
lol they’re back, I guess? Go with some of your internet friends.

Recent releases
Fred Again..'s new album is out! It's great. Not as life changing as Actual Life, but still excellent. I think the flow of the tracks might be my favorite part.
Andhim has a really nice EP out, Seasons.
Keinemusik guys (&ME, Rampa, Adam Port) put out an album called Send Return that is pretty good. No standout tracks yet, but I'll give it a few more listens.
The new Booka Shade album Both is nice.
I put on a bunch of DJ sets to attempt to stave off airplane boredom. The standout was Fred Again..'s Mixmag cover mix:
Read Moir Music
I haven't read much about music lately, but The Midnight Library is outstanding and you must read it thank you.
