See Moir Music: Mid November

The year is basically over now tbh

Overmono was one of the best shows I've seen all year. So much joy and such an ideal club crowd. Bonobo Live was just as good as promised, I'd give them 9/10 Caribous. Second Sky was an experience—long lines meant I missed all but 2 songs of salute's set, Hudson Mohawke was pretty okay, and Skrillex was dealing with some sketchy CDJs but it was interesting to see him play.

  • Sat 11/19 – Waterfront Resilience Program: Embarcadero Walking Tour #1 by the Port of San Francisco

    • "This tour is designed to familiarize participants with areas of the waterfront and the community. We will discuss the Northern Waterfront’s importance, history, and ecology, including a history of the Embarcadero and action being taken to address sea level rise and earthquake risks." Nice.

    • There's also another one December 4.

  • Sat 12/10 & Sun 12/11 – Jonathan Van Ness at the Castro Theatre

  • Now – 1/2/24 – Ragnar Kjartansson: The Visitors at SF MoMA

    • Perhaps the most entrancing and engrossing a/v art installation I've ever encountered. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

Other notes

Grammy nominations are out. The only nominee from Best New Artist that I recognized was Wet Leg. I'm ok with this.

Recent great releases

I've mostly been listening to O'Flynn's new album? Or my entire library that's on my phone on shuffle. SoundCloud Weekly has been good to me but nothing has really stuck out.

  • O'Flynn's new album Shimmer with Frazer Ray has been really good. I didn't really take notice of most of the album beyond the singles and Light it Out, but the more I listened the more it grew on me.

  • Fred Again..'s Actual Life 3 is fine. It's a continuation of his vibe, but somehow more clubby feeling without getting any deeper emotionally?

Based on the show schedule for the rest of the year and the 5pm sunsets, it feels like the year is basically over already. Looking forward to see what Spotify Wrapped has in store for me, and getting to write my annual “end” of year music data post.
