Sorry about April there
April was a big month. I hope y’all enjoyed Couchella and Localchella. I ended up skipping Caterina Barbieri at The Lab to see friends and save some energy for Mall Grab at 1015 Folsom and it was well worth it. He gifted us all with an early quality set so I didn't lose too much sleep on a Thursday. Overmono at 1015 Folsom was just as incredible as their show at Monarch, and watching them hone their live set to be something near-Bicep or Caribou quality is stellar. Their new album kicks as well. Black Coffee, Joe Kay, and Kevin Saunderson at Frank Ogawa Plaza was too crowded for my taste so I dipped out halfway through Black Coffee's set, but glad the weather turned out nice for this.

Another insta-purchase. This set is fantastic, and I'm psyched for Elkka too.

NYC: Sat 7/29 – Bonobo (DJ set), Jacques Greene, Sofia Kourtesis, Romare, O'Flynn, Juan Maclean, and Timo Lee at Knockdown Center
I flew to NYC for OUTLIER in 2019 because of the lineup, and if I was going to be in the country, I'd do it again for this lineup. I've seen half this bill and I've wanted to see O'Flynn for years. He's doing different lineups in Chicago and LA too.
Art events
Now – 1/2/24 – Ragnar Kjartansson: The Visitors at SF MoMA
Perhaps the most entrancing and engrossing a/v art installation I've ever encountered. Highly, highly, highly recommend. I still gotta make it out.

Other notes
I've been listening to the podcast Hit Parade on my drives to and from my office 1-2x/week in an effort to reduce the stress of driving. As a result, I think I've mentioned Hootie and the Blowfish more times in conversation in the past week than I have in the past 14 years. I also liked the episode on Pink, and learned a lot about Fleetwood Mac.
Overmono's new album is out and is great, Fred Again.. put out an album with his mentor Brian Eno, and I picked up some more tracks from artists I failed to see live while they were in town last month or so, including X Club and Soulwax/2manydjs, and also Baltra who I'll maybe but probably not go see this summer.
