See Moir Music: June 2022
Surprise it's basically June now
Wow it's been awhile since I wrote one of these… For a rundown of the last few shows:
Disclosure was the best show of the last few months by a LONG shot, loved it.
I felt let down by Fred Again..
Honey Dijon is a must-see DJ, absolutely incredible.
DJ Koze was a chill vibe that I didn't expect and didn't really want.
I skipped Adam Port because 3 days in a row was indeed too many :(
Logic1000 cancelled her show :(
I was supposed to see Parra for Cuva and Christian Löffler this weekend but with COVID seriously spiking lately, I opted for early mornings and outdoor adventures instead of late nights with chill vibes inside.
Where I’ll Be
I won't be much of anywhere the next month or so, so I've bolded the shows that I highly recommend OR the ones that I am going to in the further future.
Sat 6/4 – Sun 6/5 – Jeremy Olander, Worakls, Rinzen, Eli & Fur, Marsh, Sultan + Shepard, Jerro at The SF Mint
Sat 6/4 – Hayden James and Cassian at the Warfield
Cassian is so good, do recommend.
Sun 6/5 – Rex Orange County at the Greek Theatre
Tue 6/7 – Violent Femmes at the UC Theatre
Thu 6/9 – Garage Access presents Saule at Monarch
Go get your UKG fix before kicking off a busy weekend! I will sadly be out of town.
Fri 6/10 – Felix Da Housecat at Audio
Fri 6/10 – Boys Noize at the Midway
They've put out a number of great singles in the past few years, sadly I'm out of town so will have to give this a miss but please go.
Fri 6/10 – Club Called Rhonda at The Great Northern
I don't know any of the performers this month but it's always a fun time.
Fri 6/10 – STRFKR at Regency Ballroom
Sun 6/12 – Born Ruffians at The Indy
They put on a super fun live set, do recommend for fun indie rock vibes.
Sun 6/12 – TOKiMONSTA at the Phoenix Hotel
This will undoubtedly be the most fun of the poolside day parties and I won't be there but you should be. Blanq Slate is supporting too! GO!!
Thu 6/16 – Sofi Tukker at the Greek Theatre
Fri 6/17 – Rodriguez Jr. (Live) at Audio
He put on a fun live set at the Mint, highly recommend seeing him again.
Fri 6/17 – Dombresky at the Midway
Fri 6/17 – SHADED and Bruja at Monarch
Bruja was great when I saw them open at another set, recommend checking this out.
Sat 6/18 – Dosem at Audio

Wed 6/22 – Weval at 1015 Folsom
Sat 6/25 – Polyglamorous Pink Block Party with Octo Octa b2b Eris Drew

Bleeps and bloops that I recommend, check out his song Parallax for a taste.
Just announced / Coming up
July
Fri 7/1 – Ardalan (open to close) at Audio
Sun 7/3 – Shiba San at the Phoenix Hotel
Sat 7/9 – Flight Facilities at the Warfield
Sat 7/9 – KC Lights at Halcyon
I LOVE his tracks Girl and Cold Light, so I got a ticket to this. We’ll see if I make it…
Tue 7/12 – The Shins at the Warfield
Huh.
Thu 7/14 – Lone (Live) at Public Works
His track "Not Seeing is a Flower" is stunning and I'd anticipate this will be an enthralling show.
Fri 7/22 – Baauer and M. Bootyspoon at 1015 Folsom
Sat 7/23 – Diplo, Maya Jane Coles, Paul Woolford and more at the Menagerie Block Party at The Midway
Sun 7/24 – Goldroom at the Phoenix Hotel
Poolside vibes for a summer chill electronic vibes king. Look for his boat parties later this summer…
Sun 7/24 – Purity Ring at the Fox Theater
Fri 7/29 – Blond:ish at 1015 Folsom
I might go to this! Her Twitch stream sets were fun for awhile.
Sun 7/31 – VNSSA at the Phoenix Hotel
August
Outside Lands is happening. It seems fine.
Sat 8/13 – Nora En Pure PURIFIED at Frank Ogawa Plaza
It's a nice spot to see a chill artist, this should be fun.
Fri 8/19 – Head and the Heart at the Greek Theatre
Tue 8/30 – Franz Ferdinand at the Fox Theater
September
Wed 9/7 – Less than Jake and Bowling for Soup at the UC Theatre
I really just need to buy tickets to this show and admit to myself that both of these bands are super duper fun and would be so fun live. But also I've seen them both before so maybe I don't need to go. We'll see.
Thu 9/8 & Fri 9/9 – Cold Cave at the Chapel
Fri 9/9 – Placebo at Regency Ballroom
Sat 9/17 – Novo Amor at The Fillmore
Remains one of the best crowd vibes I've had at a live show, the Fillmore I expect will be even better. Recommended.
Wed 9/21 – The Avalanches at The Warfield
I think they're growing on me, but gosh this is quite a stretch of Wednesday shows.
Fri 9/23 – Lykke Li at The Warfield
Sat 9/24 & Sun 9/25 – Portola Music Festival with a fuckton of people, but my biased list of artists is: Jamie xx, Jungle, Fred Again.., Fatboy Slim, Caribou, Bicep (Live), The Avalanches, Romy, Ross from Friends, TSHA, George Fitzgerald, Dials, Chemical Brothers, MIA, Four Tet + Floating Points, Yaeji, Channel Tres, Ben Böhmer (Live), Drama, Keinemusik (&ME, Rampa, and Adam Port), Sofia Kourtesis, HAAI, Prospa, and more! at Pier 80. This list is a mix of who I've seen before and who I'll try to see, because obviously I'm going.
Fri 9/30 – Broken Social Scene at Fox Theater
Fri 9/30 & Sat 10/1 – Odesza with Sylvan Esso and Elderbrook at Shoreline
Way Later
Sun 10/23 – Lil Nas X at Billy G
I would LOVE to see him live but tickets are ~*demand priced*~ so instead of costing $65 + fees they're listed at $220, or more or less at any given time. Sigh.
Thu 11/17 – Everything Everything at GAMH
Wed 12/14 – Sunny Day Real Estate with The Appleseed Cast at Regency Ballroom
What year is it?
Thu 3/30/2023 – Low at the Chapel
I guess we're booking shows 10 months in advance now??
Other notes
If you want to learn about mushrooms, check out this Mycology event at Public Works on June 16th.
Recent great releases
I'm pretty behind on new stuff, so maybe send me some stuff you've liked recently?
Tourist put out a new album! I need to give it several more listens.
Four Tet put out a new single. I haven't been looking at my pager so I've barely listened but what I heard was good.
TSHA put out a great fabric mix!
Shazamming while Dancing
I haven't really made it to any shows lately but uh the DJ that played at the IFSC climbing bouldering world cup weekend that myself and Pam went to in Salt Lake City had pretty great taste, it turned out, so here's our shazams from that weekend.
