Other SF events
I've been enjoying catching some Bay Area Vintage Base Ball games at Golden Gate Park lately — a low key way to enjoy being outside and sit on a bench instead of a blanket (still a bit hard to get on and off the ground in a dignified manner)
San Francisco city government is trying to revitalize downtown with a series of events:
July 4 – September 14 — Minted SF takes over the Mint plaza at 5th and Mission every Friday with live music.
Downtown First Thursdays takes over 2nd street and nearby areas and makes my late work hours interesting. Last month Rochelle Jordan played, so don't sleep on the lineup.
Summer of Music is no longer standalone artists playing on the street in front of various businesses, and is instead part of local neighborhood night markets.
Every 2nd and 4th Saturday from June through September is the Pier Party at the Wharf
Most weekdays there are People in Plazas playing live music (like jazz)
There are other recurring events in the city to check out:
Inner Sunset Flea Market on second Sundays
Fridays on Front Street (next on August 22)
If book talks, history walks, music-making classes, or public lectures are more your speed, here's what's going on this month and beyond…
Saturday, August 9 — Biofeedback Music: Your Heart as a Drum Machine and Sweat as a Melody at Gray Area
Thursday, August 14 — Drawn Together: Tech for Belonging at SFMOMA
Thursday, August 14 — Book Launch for Ocean Beach: Fog, Fauna and Flora by Eddy Rubin and Greg Wright at Black Bird Bookstore
Saturday, August 16 — Rooftop Rhythms at Salesforce Park by Noise Pop
Saturday, August 16 — Trip Computer album launch at Gray Area
Tuesday, August 19 — Charlie Jane Anders with Daniel M Lavery at Green Apple Books on the Park
Wednesday, August 20 — Nerd Nite at Rickshaw Stop about Math of Basketball, Wild World of Moss, and Censorship.
Thursday, August 21 — In Conversation: Alexandra Romanoff and Jasmine Guillory at Black Bird Bookstore
Tuesday, August 26 — Alyssa Battistoni with Daniel Aldana Cohen - Free Gifts: Capitalism and the Politics of Nature at Book Passage in the Ferry Building
Wednesday, August 27 — Ask the Night for a Dream: Palestinian Writing from the Diaspora at Green Apple Books on the Park
Thursday, September 11 – Sunday, September 14 — Gray Area festival
Monday, October 20 — Cory Doctorow on Enshittification by the Booksmith at Public Works
Music lately
You can always follow me on bandcamp to see what I've bought lately…
I spent my plane flight home from NYC mostly listening to these two DJ sets:

Guess I know who I'll have to go see when they make it to SF...
Barry Can't Swim's new album Loner came out and it's pretty good, but somewhat uneven. Not sure if any of the tracks will stick much.
Have also been listening to (bolded faves):
Also have enjoyed some awaited IDs getting released:
Interplanetary Criminal — Slow Burner (not on Bandcamp)
Eagerly awaiting the rest of HAAi's new album, Gilligan Moss's new album A La Mode, Cameo Blush's album Grace in Motion, and carving out the time to listen to DJ Counseling's new album too.
Other notes
Life has been hectic lately despite not being overly busy. I'll hopefully be giving a lightning talk about music metadata at a work hackathon in a couple weeks (idk there's an opaque submission process) but either way will be a good chance for me to dig into one of my favorite niche topics again and with any luck, write a new blog post about it.
