Welcome to Security for Therapists!

Coming from a career in computer security, it became very apparent to me in grad school that the mental health field could use some extra care when it comes to technology and digital security. While it can be intimidating to many, technology is a part of modernizing health care and providing equitable access — not only to our clients, but to clinicians as well.

But how can we integrate technology into our work as clinicians in a thoughtful way? How can we keep ourselves and our clients safer when it comes to technology? And how can we adapt to an ever shifting landscape of technology and security?

I don’t have all the answers, but I’d love to share what I do know with folks and see if we can’t make our corner of the world a little bit safer and a little more accessible along the way.

I plan to send out a monthly newsletter covering a variety of timely security and privacy topics specifically geared towards mental health providers, as well as urgent security bulletins relevant to the mental health field and letting folks know when new trainings and workshops become available.

Want to support this work? Consider upgrading to a paid subscription and gaining access to more in-depth security information, including the ability to submit questions that may be answered in future editions of the newsletter.

Warmly,

Reid
