94. Mediation and some art things
Last episode was long delayed, and also quite lengthy. This one probably is quite long too. It’s the long weekend, Easter and the autumnal equinox. Brew up a cuppa (here's some helpful interactive instructions . . .)
I only briefly mentioned my January trip to Singapore in the last episode and I should write up a bit about it - if only so I don’t forget. As some of you are aware, I’m on the advisory board of Singapore’s Art Science Museum and this year their annual board meeting, for the second year in a row, coincided with Singapore Art Week. There was a lot going on, both at ASM and around the city.
At ASM itself were two excellent temporary exhibitions, Mars: The Red Mirror, and, New Eden: Science Fiction Mythologies Transformed. I was excited to see the Mars exhibit which had brought together an astounding array of objects and artworks, and provoking discussions about the enduring human fascination with the Red Planet. ASM had brought an additional Asian historical flavour to the exhibition. New Eden was equally inspired and assembled a fantastic array of Asian speculative futures.
