101. Adventures in Michigan
Reflecting on my last week at visiting University of Michigan
Before we get started, this is a lovely piece by Damon Krukowski in remembrance of the influential sound and technology studies academic Jonathan Sterne who died this week after a long illness. Sterne’s fields of interest will deeply overlap with those of you as a F&N reader.
Sound is society. Sound is history. Sound is all around us and sometimes it is organized by the fascinating process of art.
As this episode is set in Michigan, I would also suggest a good soundtrack for today’s episode might be Dilla’s Donuts, (not that you should ever need a specific reason to pop on such a great record!)
There are a quite a few pics in this so make sure you click ‘load images’ and settle in. I’m writing this one as it is more of a travel diary, and is (slightly) shorter than usual.
