Hello there stargazers, it’s another month and another newsletter from Season HQ. For those of us in the northern hemisphere, the sun looms large and Leo’s fiery mane is heating this little bit of rock we call home.

Full disclosure: both my mum and my girlfriend are Leos (and no, I do not want to unpack that, Dr Freud. You’re probably coked up and I don’t have to listen to you) so I may be displaying some bias here but I think Leos are pretty cool.
The Fountain of Lions, The Alhambra, Granada
Throughout history, it’s clear that humankind has had a, somewhat fearful, admiration of lions. I think that it’s built on 2 elements. Firstly on the knowledge that in hand to paw combat, most lions would fuck a human all the way up. I’m not a monarchist by any means but the title ‘king of the beasts’, as the Talmud put it, feels earned. Give me the large cat over the crusty human royals anyday. Secondly, they look so cool. The lion’s mane is an icon of mammalian hairstyles and adds to their regal aura. Even when they didn’t really know what they looked like, humans have been trying to capture the lion’s radiating splendour, using them to depict power and leadership.

Like the lion, we find ourselves drawn to Leos. Radiating joy, they are often the brightest light in the room, especially when those around them have dimmed. If Aries personifies fire’s destructive nature, Leo represents the warmth. Their compassion is outward facing and seeks to draw you in, eager to share the warmth. A fixed sign, they value stability and will often be the first to try and keep the peace, but Leos should be wary of how long they can keep the fire burning - keep some nice logs for yourself ‘cause you can’t run on embers!
Leo Season Mix: King Kami

This season’s mix is a blistering 63 minutes from King Kami. This mix sees the Lisbon-based DJ take us on a breakneck tour of booming rhythms from her homeland Brazil, showcasing the brega sound from the north-east. DJing since 2015, Kami is a resident on Lisbon’s Radio Quantica as well as throwing the Noites Medusa parties as one half of Caravagyo. This year she has dived into music production for the first time - we’ve been told to expect more news on this soon and after listening to this mix, we don’t need telling twice.
