I love Cancer season. Yes it marks the end of the greatest season of the year, but it brings some much needed respite during the hazy months of July and allows us to cool off in the ocean waves when needed. I have been enjoying the recent meme format where people on twitter put sun/moon/rising signs over random images. There was one that asked about your “little three” i.e. your Venus, Mercury and Mars placements which spoke truthfully about my Cancer Venus AND Mercury… in case you wondered why I am a soppy emotional wreck most of the time… that’s why!
ora: Cancer Season Mix
It's time to kick back with a cold can (my personal choice would be a Lilt) and bask in the rays of this month's mix from Leeds legend icon and star, ora. A true staple of the Leeds music and radio scene, ora has come out of semi-dj-retirement to bring us 30 minutes of fun, playful beats to put a bit of a pep in your step this Cancer season. ora is a force to be reckoned with, whether she is putting on club nights with Not Exotic, co-running all things Sable Radio, or whipping up a storm with her baking, her creativity knows no bounds. We know you will enjoy this joyous mix, perfect for a summer of... whatever you want it to be.
When will my reflection show who I am inside?
Cancer is ruled by the moon, the planet that represents the inner self, the subconscious, the true you. This makes sense to me - Cancers can appear solid, private, sometimes cold upon first meeting them but the more you get to know them the more their soft, tender and caring side comes to the fore. Astrology is one big lesson in what you see isn’t always the truth, and to me Cancers are a bit of a mystery - some might say mysterious as the dark side of the moon… Their mystery is different to the still waters of Scorpio or the dreamy showers of Pisces, as Cancer is a Cardinal sign, making them a bit more outgoing, proactive and persuasive than their watery siblings. Love your hair hope you win, Cancer.
Baby Tarot Readings
It was recently my birthday (duh) and my friend Daniel got me the most gorgeous tarot deck as a gift. I have now started my tarot reading journey, by breaking in my deck to find out my birth cards, sleeping with my deck under my pillow to allow it to absorb my energy, and building a daily card pull into my routine. Tarot and astrology are of course intrinsically connected, and I found this article helpful in understanding how they relate to one another for any baby beginners out there like me.
My birth cards:
I thought I would do the Cancer season tarot pull and share it with you all…
Where am I underestimating myself? - Reversed five of Swords
The reversed five of swords reperesets knowing when you’re fighting a losing battle. It is about setting and forgetting, about moving on from past fights that were lost, about knowing when to call it a day and step away from conflict. I am a chronic overthinker who is driven by her heart, so moving on can be a challenge sometimes, but I guess I am better than I think I am (love that).
What boundaries do I need to maintain? - Five of Cups
The five of cups appears where there is something you are holding onto from the past that you just can’t let go… I see a theme here. The five of cups challenges you to forgive, to learn from the past and use that newfound wisdom to inspire you into the future. “If someone has disappointed you, find it within your heart to forgive that person, releasing yourself from the disappointment. And if you are frustrated with yourself, know that you did the best you could under the circumstances and have now learned from your mistakes.”. Much to consider.
What potential is it time for me to unleash? - Reversed nine of Pentacles
The nine of pentacles is all about self-love, and when it is reversed it asks you to reflect on your self-worth and affirm within yourself: I am enough. I’m smart! I’m brave! I’m the coolest! It is time for me to unlock my self-love potential. Love that for me.
To finish I want to recommend you watch our Tayyab’s latest vlogmix, a creative outlet of his that brings me so much joy it makes my heart sing. FFO smiling, sunshine, friendship. As always, I highly recommend reading your monthly horoscopes over on gal-dem, written by the always gorgeous Marissa Malik.
Take care, and see you soon.
