SCALES #69
Hello all,
In this tough time, one tiny thing I thought I could do with this newsletter is share some organizations in the Twin Cities that could use support. I'm lucky enough to be in the position to make some donations, and if you happen to have the means I encourage considering the same, to these organizations, others in the Twin Cities, or groups local to you:
Reclaim the Block has assembled a list of suggested organizations to give to in Minneapolis: “If you’re considering donating to Reclaim the Block this week, please consider giving to some of these other groups instead.” (Google Docs)
MIGIZI Communications, a nonprofit and media organization in Minneapolis supporting indigineous youth for over 40 years, whose building burned (but whose legacy radio archive thankfully had just been moved). (GiveMN, GoFundMe)
Juxtaposition Arts, a teen-staffed art and design center, gallery, retail shop, and artists’ studio space whose building in North Minneapolis was damaged. (PayPal)
The Penumbra Theatre, an African-American theatre company in St. Paul founded in 1976 and known for launching August Wilson’s career as playwright—a recent post about their response. (Donation page)
Springboard for the Arts, an arts nonprofit that has been providing emergency financial support to artists via their Coronavirus Artists Emergency Relief Fund and whose building on University Avenue in St. Paul was affected by fire. (GiveMN)
