Local Plan Consultation: Comment by 11 December
There’s a new consultation because the Council published key documents late. We’ve made it easy for you to object - download a response and submit before 5pm, 11 December.
Following on from our last email about the new Local Plan consultation, we now have until 11 December to make our voices heard.
This consultation is happening because Sheffield City Council admitted during the hearings that dozens of important documents were published late - in some cases weeks after residents had already spoken.
The public must now be given a fair chance to comment on this late evidence, and this includes documents affecting our S13 Green Belt sites.
We’ve reviewed the new material and created clear, easy-to-use objection templates so nobody has to read more than 70 technical documents in the run-up to Christmas.
Quick Recap - What’s Happening?
The Council has opened a new “targeted consultation” on more than 70 documents that arrived late during the hearings. These include new conceptual site layouts, Green Belt assessments, ecology surveys, mining risk reports, and Statements of Common Ground.
Several of these documents relate directly to Handsworth Hall Farm (SES29) and Bramley Common (SES30), which is why this consultation matters for S13.
This is an important opportunity to show the Inspectors that the late evidence still does not justify releasing our Green Belt for development.
The deadline for responses is 5pm, Thursday 11 December - just 11 days from today.
What We’re Asking You to Do
We’ve prepared simple, readable sample responses so anyone can take part - technical knowledge needed.
Download from:
saves13greenbelt.org.uk/respond
Each sample response:
Links to the correct evidence document
References the EXAM document number
Explains the issue clearly
Sets out the reasoning the Inspectors need to hear
All you need to do is add your name and address and either:
Send the response as-is, or
Personalise it with any concerns of your own
How to Submit Your Objection
There are three easy options. Use whichever works best for you.
1. Email it directly to Sheffield City Council
Send to: sheffieldplan@sheffield.gov.uk
You can attach the Word version of the objection, or copy and paste the text into the email. Make sure to include your name and address.
2. Drop it off locally
You can pick up a print-out and/or drop off a completed one at:
Please drop off by 12pm on 11 December so we can deliver them in time.
3. Post it to the Council
Print off a response, complete it and send to:
Strategic Planning
Howden House
1 Union Street
Sheffield S1 2SH
Please allow time for it to arrive - Christmas post is already slowing down.
Why Your Response Matters
Every single response is logged, counted, and passed directly to the Inspectors.
This consultation is open only because residents challenged the process. A strong further response now shows:
Our community is watching
We care about our Green Belt
The evidence still doesn’t justify these allocations
S13 is not giving up or losing interest
This is our chance to demonstrate - clearly, fairly and formally - that the proposed development of S13’s Green Belt is not supported and not justified.
Please Act Now - and Help Spread the Word!
We only have 11 days left from today, and the deadline comes right in the run-up to Christmas, when people are busiest. Please:
Submit your own objection today
Ask your neighbours, friends, and family to submit one too
