What you can do the week of April 15
☎️ No seriously: Call your Members of Congress every day! Be sure to give your full name, location, and zip code every time you call.
• Amy Klobuchar – DC: (202) 224-3244, MN: (612) 727-5220
• Tina Smith – DC: (202) 224-5641, MN: (651) 221-1016
• Betty McCollum – (202) 225-6631, St. Paul: (651) 224-9191
Demand that Amy and Betty publicly denounce Trump for disappearing Kilmar Abrego Garcia into a Salvadorian gulag with zero due process and in open defiance of a 9-0 Supreme Court ruling. Aside from being cruel and inhumane, this sets an extremely dangerous precedent and has precipitated a constitutional crisis.
Thank Tina for her strong statement this afternoon, and ask her to formally publish it in a press release!
🇺🇸 Become a Protector of Democracy. The legislative branch has abdicated all their power. Trump is defying the judicial branch. Sustained, large-scale protests are increasingly the last effective and important tool we have to save our democracy.
Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.
Here’s where you can help:
🗓️ Wednesday, April 16, 3:00–6:00pm: Join the Stop State Terror/Protect the Constitution protest at the El Salvadoran Consulate (60 Plato Blvd, St. Paul, 55017).
🗓️ Saturday, April 19, 1:00pm: Join the Fight for a People’s Earth Day march. Start at 7th and Wabasha, and march to the MN State Capitol. (Note: there is a permit for the rally at the State Capitol but not for the march, although marching is legal without a permit as long as streets aren’t blocked. You may choose to skip the march and instead join the marchers at the Capitol at approx. 1:30)
