What I have found gripping

  • There is a book about green software engineering providing practical ideas: Green Software Engineering: Exploring Green Technology for Sustainable IT Solutions by Santiago Fontanarrosa

  • Effective testing with RSpec 3: The book’s friendly tone makes for an engaging reading and learning experience

  • Communities matter more than ever and softwares supporting them too

  • Learning in community is important though one also needs to be clear about how they want to learn. In my view, the more diverse the community, the better it is for learning from different perspectives and ways of working

What I have read

  • Building Green Software with Anne Currie and Sara Bergman, InfoQ

  • The cost of bandwidth: What’s in a byte? Sophia Willows

  • Five steps can help estimate software emissions during the system design phase using LLMs, Srinivasan Rakhunathan & Naveen Balani

  • The Importance of Scopes in Ruby on Rails, Jason Charnes

  • Trigger warning: Remembering Vicky Teinaki, Imran Hussain

  • Trigger warning: Noah Gibbs: Mentor, Friend, Ally, Brandon Weaver

This week I’m including two people who have influenced my journey: Vicky and Noah. They both shared their knowledge generously. I’m thankful for having had the chance to learn from them too. My thoughts are with their families, friends, and everyone in the professional communities they were part of.
