things that have made me happy to read/hear about lately/add a lot of exclamation marks [online, in my head, in texts, here]
David Nicholls is adapting Adrian Mole?!?! [I LOVE Adrian Mole. I cannot tell you how often I think of Pandora, or the newts.]
This delightful bit from Clara’s newsletter about The Love Hypothesis adaptation:

The word inexorable
I am working on a draft of a new novel (crossed the 30,000 word mark, and babe, it was a journey getting here) and decided to change the tense, and now the words are flying. Of course, at this point it is mostly banter, but banter means I actually like the characters and I want them to flirt and laugh and do things. Of course, this means I’ll have to go back to the 30K words and fix that, but I was going to do that anyway. To the next 30,000! To not feeling sad about writing in general!
I have had multiple nights of over seven hours of sleep. I even wrote over 3,000 words one day. I cannot believe I’ve been an insomniac for my entire teenage and adult life and this is how the rest of you have been living.
Watching Masterchef Australia. It feels like the year 20-something and we’re all delighted by the collapsing chocolate cakes and croquembouches. I’ve really wanted to write about the impact of this show for a long time, but I am enjoying this as a background watch (and also am finding everything I make utterly tasteless as a result)
Reading: Hannah Lillith Assadi’s Sonora; Natalia Ginzburg’s Family Lexicon, and I have shown remarkable fortitude in saving Jodi McAlister’s A Study in Sparkling for later in the month, which is basically akin to me sitting on my hands, going please let me read one page.
Knitting: the Port Jacket by Ozetta, the Juno top by Sari Nordlund, and a hot water bottle cover (which is essentially a bland little stockinette project for when I’m on the train/bus/tram).
the bag of crisps I just inhaled, while the contestants on masterchef are trying to make outlandish desserts.
