The Peoples Purse: Budget Bytes

Support Staff Updates:
The Richmond People’s Budget support staff is preparing the “Get Out the Vote” campaign in anticipation of voting in April. The team is collaborating with Stanford University’s Participatory Budgeting team to implement their software for online voting. On Wednesday, February 5th, they will meet with the Participatory Steering Commission to review potential voting methods and assess language access needs before finalizing the ballot.
Delegate Updates:
First District: Narrowed down the ideas list to their top 20. Has been mainly focusing on Traffic, Pedestrian Safety, and Neighborhood Beatification around the Humphrey Corridor Community.
Second District: Met with the Carver Civic Association this week to go over ideas in the area, and has narrowed down their ideas down to top 27. Mainly focusing on Trees, Trash, Park and Bus Shelters, and Art ideas.
Third District: Continuing to work on their list and narrow down their ideas. Have began creating clusters as an organization technique for the ideas that have been submitted multiple times.
Fourth District: Has narrowed down their ideas to the top 15-20. Planning to do a “Field Trip” to parks around their district. Focusing mainly on Pedestrian Safety and Parks.
Fifth District: Have narrowed down their ideas to the top 17. Working Through their ideas by impact on age and needs of the community.
Sixth District: Have narrowed down their ideas to Sidewalks, Bus Shelters, including a skating zone in Hotchkiss Park. Currently Working with the Climate index to review zones that need greenery and shelters around the district.
Seventh District: The seventh district delegates met last Sunday to finish our preliminary sorting of ideas and discuss our top 30-ish proposals. Making next steps for the ones that they identified as feasible, including taking photos of sites for certain projects, reaching out to places like the East End Library and RVA Community Fridges, and identifying ideas they need more community input on. Delegates attended the seventh district community meeting last night to share an update about PB, share ideas rising to the top, and collect feedback.
Eighth District: Working through phasing the projects direct locations, in regards to spreading the projects out throughout the district. Locating active civic associations in the district for future listening sessions.
Ninth District: Have narrowed down their list to 15-20 ideas. Have been in contact and are continuing to reach out to civic associations and park associations for future listening sessions.
