Illegible Agriculture: When tech oversimplifies essential complexity
Greetings everyone,
This past month, the Runrig Journal had to take a bit of a backseat to some personal stuff, but I'm back on track (hopefully) with my declared biweekly posting schedule. Who knows, monthly might be more reasonable, but time will tell.
This latest post is the first in an informal series on complexity, abstraction, and scaling in ag-tech:

Illegible Agriculture | Runrig
Why technocrats so often try (and fail) to simplify farming's essential complexity
In other news, you can now follow Runrig on Bluesky and Mastodon!
I think I'll forgo including the entire body of each article in the newsletter going forward. In addition to the website and the socials, you can always subscribe via RSS, Atom, or JSON feeds, in case you just gotta have it sent to your inbox. Let me know if you're still following or have thoughts or suggestions, either on the format or content or what have you. This is still a tiny mailing list, so don't hesitate if you got something else in mind – although, I took a leap of faith and upgraded to the 100+ subscriber plan, so here's hoping! 🤞🏻
I also plan to update the Farm Flow project pages this week, and hopefully post some more details about Runrig farmOS and/or other projects I've got in the works. Again, any feedback or inquiries on potential collaborations are always welcome, just email me!
All power to all people,
Jamie
