Hello, friends!

Two bits of news for US readers especially (don’t worry international readers, I gotchu—see the stuff under the photo):

Alcove Press is running a giveaway on Goodreads for 5 physical galleys of my upcoming women’s fiction/contemporary fantasy The Glowing Life of Leeann Wu! Yes, you could win a chance to get a sneak peek at a book that doesn’t come out til November. Unfortunately, this is only open to US readers. The giveaway runs from 4/24-5/11. Here’s the link:

Also! It’s time again for the Barnes & Noble preorder sale, in which you can pre-order a print or ebook copy of The Glowing Life of Leeann Wu for 25% off.

Here’s that link for you: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-glowing-life-of-leeann-wu-mindy-hung/1146546421

This offer is for Barnes & Noble rewards and premium members only. Use code PREORDER25 at checkout. The sale ends Friday the 25th.

Buuut independent bookstore week is also this week, so if you’re not a B&N person, here are some American and Canadian links for Bookshop and a few indies:

International friends, yes, I’ve got a giveaway for you! I’d be happy to send one of my non-US newsletter subscribers a print copy of any 1 of the 3 Practice Perfect books: Acute Reactions, Hard Knocks, or Clean Breaks. All you have to do is reply to this email letting me know which country you’re in and which book you’d like. I will pick 1 winner at random. Giveaway closes April 30th. This contest is not affiliated with Buttondown.

Speaking of the Practice Perfect books, I want to talk a little about Hard Knocks today. Hard Knocks is the first book where I won my “unlikable female main character” stripes. Helen is impetuous and sometimes self-sabotaging. She’s a neurologist, but she’s helpless in the face of her father’s Parkinsonism, so she decides to redirect energy to try to get hockey banned in Portland because of concussions. Her nemesis in all this is Adam, a mild-mannered hockey player who’s staring down the end of his career with a losing team and needs to hang onto his job for a while. This is one of my favourites of my books because Helen is so angry and yet, her relationship with Adam, a man of hidden depths, turns into something so loving.

PS: For the next week (til May 1) Helen and Adam’s bonus story, “A Hard Knocks Life” will be available to download here for free: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/j8nss6w2nx (This story will make a lot more sense if you’ve already read all 3 Practice Perfect books.)

OK whew! That was a lot of links! Next time I promise to talk about books I’m reading or cats or something. Happy clicking!
