Hi!
this is Rowan, from Rowan and Friends here.
I’ve just heard there’s a new top 5 jesus songs.
the ranking hasn’t changed in two decades (ever since “Jesus etc.” was dropped) so this is BIG news.
so without further ado, here’s the TOP FIVE JESUS SONGS:
5. The Christian Life by The Louvin Brothers
Banger song, banger harmonies, simple as.
And if you come at me saying that the Byrd’s version was better; I’ll kick your head in.
4. Jesus Was A Cross Maker by Judee Sill
In this song Judee Sill asks: what if Jesus made the cross he died on (thinking emoji).
Anyway - no one does relgious imagery like our Judee. 10/10 points for her.
3. King of The Carrot Flowers pt. 2 & 3 by Neutral Milk Hotel
I am so glad I was never a Dylan teen, or an Elliot Smith teen, but instead a Jeff Mangum teen.
I spent my formative years listening to this song, the album its on, and arguing about it with communists on Tumblr.
2. Jesus I Was Evil by Darcy Clay
Maybe not specifically about Jesus, but about redemption, which is what Jesus was all about.
If you have never listened to Darcy Clay you owe it to yourself to listen to Darcy Clay. He only has like 6 songs too. (One of them being the best cover of Jolene).
1. I’ve Been Thinking About Jesus by Rowan and Friends
Knocking “Jesus Etc.” off the list, it’s “I’ve Been Thinking About Jesus“ by Rowan and Friends.
This is now the best song about Jesus, and all others will pale forever and ever.
And because it is so good, you can download it for free from Bandcamp.

Please come back next week, where we’ll be counting down the five best songs about John the Baptist. You won’t believe what’s at number 2!
