Hey friends,

You Will Never Get That Feeling Back has been out in the world for a certain number of days now.

And so has the music video we made to go along with it.

In early May I pitched the idea of making a modern-day “Desolation Row” to the video’s co-director (and my house-mate) Rosa. Though instead of holding up lyrics, I’d hold up objects relating to those lyrics.

We proceeded to sit down for over two hours and made a giant spreadsheet matching lyrics in the songs to both objects and actions. We then went and got a pint.

Over the next week we acquired all of the objects we were missing and organised a group of friends to help with making the video. Luckily the offer of a free dinner was enough to entice them.

I won’t go into the exact logistics of the video, but involved whole lot of precise behind-the-scenes movement. And a lot of making sure everyone was stood in the right place at the right time.

After some rehearsal, the video took four takes to make, and its the fourth take that you can find on Youtube now. After starting at 5pm, we finished at 10pm, which I think is pretty good going, and we all managed to go and get a pint to celebrate.

My favourite parts of the video are the video within a video segments, and the reference to our Skeldergate video.

If you have a bit in the video you like, it’d be great to discuss this with you. Both the video and the lyrics are packed with references of things I find interesting. Hence the fact that I often introduce it as a “song about some of my interests“.
