Whenever I read the news, I can’t ignore the problems or get past the injustice happening around me. It’s hard and, at times, all-consuming. Still, I wouldn’t change it. Care and vulnerability are my fundamentals and why I do what I do.
I hope your fundamentals keep you grounded and mindful as you focus on the you of today.
As always, thank you for being here! I hope this curated bulletin inspires your day. ✨

thoughtful (adjective) /ˈθɑːt.fəl/
You are thoughtful if you consider how your actions and words will affect other people’s feelings. It is thoughtful to cook your friend's favorite dish when you invite them over for dinner.
The adjective thoughtful describes someone who pays attention or considers others' feelings when they speak and act. If your friend is heartbroken about a recent break-up, holding off on gushing about your new relationship is the thoughtful thing to do. Thoughtful can also describe intellectual depth, like a thoughtful essay on a well-known poem that focuses on a line that other scholars have overlooked.
"In her poem “Accents,” the award-winning poet, and educator, Denise Frohman, celebrates her mother’s melodious accent, describing it as a “sancocho of English and Spanish pushing up and against one another in rapid fire.” Her accent is full of sabor; it cannot, and will not, be watered down." - Huffpost
Listen, reflect, and answer: what does your accent tell people?
• "Deep Sea Arcade's reverberated brand of psychedelia recalls guitar-based music from across the ages, yet with a characters and charm that is undeniably unique." - Spotify
Mondays overwhelm me. Feeling like I have so much to do yet no idea where to start. So I give myself some grace. I pause what I'm doing and play something to soothe the feeling and Deep Sea Arcade has been my go-to band for this.
• "What's CODE SWITCH? It's the fearless conversations about race that you've been waiting for. Hosted by journalists of color, our podcast tackles the subject of race with empathy and humor.

"Baba Is You is a puzzle game where the rules you have to follow are present as blocks you can interact with. By manipulating them, you can change how the game works, repurpose things you find in the levels and cause surprising interactions! - Steam
Baba Is You teaches us how to appreciate rules by asking us to break them. This is by far the best puzzle game I've ever played!

If you’ve been reading these bulletins, then you probably know I love video games.
In a world where people are expected to always be productive, the act of play feels defiant.
Games are not purposeless activities. They fill lives with more than just a sense of accomplishment. After all, games hold stories we can find relatable and relevant.
I want to bring games into the classroom and not just as a means to an end, but a new practice and outlet for folks. After all, fun, play and joy can be transformative experiences. 🌸
