43: Strong deterrent

Hello.

Joint Committee on Privacy and Injunctions - First Report
“The challenges posed to injunctions were demonstrated in May 2011 when the Giggs injunction was broken by at least one Twitter user and the information repeated as many as 75,000 times.”
…
“We believe the Attorney General should be more willing to exercise his power as Guardian of the Public Interest to bring actions for civil contempt of court in respect of breaches of injunctions online. The threshold for him intervening should be lower. Such action would provide a strong deterrent against future such breaches.”
