Oct. 10th DDR A20PLUS Score Report

Today, I stayed in-town for my after-work DDR session at the local D&B. Distracting and difficult to play on as ever-at least in the context of playing for high scores at high difficulties-I still made magic happen, burned some calories, and strengthened my body for the upcoming Mistake on the Lake 5 tournament.

Hat Trick! Three New Level-15 PFC’s

Debuffed by a lack of caffeine in my system for the day as well as the dance pads being stock and recessed, I had a hard time today working the DDR pad for score. I got punished for stepping light; and in turn, I had to sink my feet into the arrow panels to ensure I got the judgement I wanted, reducing my maximum physical output for the day in today’s one-hour session.

Nevertheless, I made it work, and earned three new level-15 PFC’s, setting a new one-day record (I usually get one new 15 in a given session)! TMP and Windy Fairy each took one try to convert (Xepher took two), as I didn’t have the energy or the will to run anything back.

  • Level-15 PFC #24: Trip Machine Phoenix Expert - 3.5x, LEFT, HID+. I’d flagged this several times before earlier in the year as part of KITSUNNY’s Shakunetsu Summer Campaign remote DDR tournament. Hitting the slowdown notes correctly near the end and then staying in the window as my legs were candling back and forth with additional tilt in the feet to account for recessed pads was both anxiety inducing and a got-dang miracle. The chart is definitely easier to play on LEFT versus on NORMAL turn mod. I’ll attend to PFC’ing the Challenge chart another day.

  • Level-15 PFC #25: Xepher - 3.25x, HID+. I’ve had this in mind ever since VYHD recommended it to me as a level-15 PFC candidate to go for. I never got around to it until my dance partner today brought it up as a song to play. On the first run, I positioned my feet incorrectly for an ambiguous pattern early on and decided to walk off; but knowing that the chart was both early and easy to pass, I stuck with it and gave it a runback a set later to convert the PFC.

  • Level-15 PFC #26: Windy Fairy - 3.0x, HID+. This puts to rest a two-year-old flag. Every step felt earned on those sunk pads, from committing to the technical 12th-note runs to every 16th-note burst in the chart. I don’t have anything else to say about the run. I am relieved that it’s finally done and am looking forward to working on other charts.

I’ve come close as well today with 1g FC’s on several other charts, but those mistakes were my own in part due to general sleepiness and in part due to adjusting to stock pads at my in-town arcade.

A Spooky Score!

A ~30k upscore on Trigger CSP! Another one above the 850k line for the Amethyst 3 (A20+) requirement! It felt empowering to pass an 18 on stock pads; I don’t remember the last time I’ve done such a thing. I’ve come to depend on modded pads so that I can get away with stepping light; and although this is on the easier end to pass, making sure I was comboing the streams and the crossover-heavy 8th-note walks was a non-trivial effort.

3icecream Export

And that’s it for this unexpectedly productive one-hour session today! The 3icecream export is below; have a good night!

3icecream export for today’s session.
